Challenges and Environmental Concerns in Leather Production

Leather production consumes significant amounts of water, energy, and electricity.
Additionally, the chemical processes used to tan skins produce wastewater
that must be treated to avoid environmental harm.
In doing so, it is necessary to carry out wastewater treatment in an environmentally friendly
mannered way to minimize water pollution.
Leather products that are properly cared for can last a long time,
but if they are replaced often, a lot of energy is used in the manufacturing and disposal stages,
which has a significant impact on the global environment.

We are continually striving to find the best ways to take the lead
in incorporating environmentally sustainable technologies and initiatives
into every stage of our operations.

Use of Environmentally Friendly Technology

We reclaim and reuse 70% of our factory wastewater
through an industry-first reverse osmosis (RO) membrane purification system,
reducing wastewater and minimizing the usage of clean water.
The wastewater undergoes multiple stages of treatment
to ensure it meets and exceeds the standards of Malaysia’s Standard B
of the Environmental Quality Act of 1974
and Industrial Effluent Regulations 2009 Standards.
We test our treated water daily
using the globally renowned Eurofins Scientific standards and guidelines.
